Christmas Movies on Netflix To Add to Your Annual Holiday Reel

There’s nothing quite like curling up on a frosty Saturday morning in December with a steaming hot cup of coffee, the coziest of throws, and watching a Christmas movie. Whether you’re a fan of the classics or will literally watch anything with a faint sound of sleigh bells in the intro credits — we’re talkin’ the low-budget Hallmark movies — then these Netflix movies and specials are for you.

Love Actually

Unbelievably, there are still people out there who haven’t seen it. If you’re not one of those people skip to the next, however, if you are, you’re in for the ultimate holiday treat. Love Actually tells the stories of nine different people over the holiday season and will have you laughing and crying all at the same time.

The Holiday

This star-studded flick is an absolute holiday must. Be sure to grab a box of tissues if you’re a crier — you might need it. Cameron Diaz’s wardrobe should also get an honourable mention because it’s the epitome of winter chic.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

While it’s a remake and we might upset a few people by including it, the movie has the best sights and sounds of Christmas with all the things you love about Dr. Seuss’ children’s book. Follow it up by watching Faith Hill’s “Where Are You Christmas” performance on Mount Crumpet on YouTube and your heart will grow three sizes too.

Elf

Sometimes Will Ferrell is too over-the-top, but he’s just right in Elf. If you haven’t seen it, you’ll have a few laughs and will learn several important lessons about Christmas — like the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

Arthur Christmas

Cartoons aren’t just for kids. Arthur Christmas is a cute animated movie that will warm your heart. It’s a save-the-day type of tale that uncovers what happens when Santa accidentally misses one child out of millions. You can probably watch it while wrapping presents to make the most of your time and be equally as entertained.

Four Christmases

Every family has its own set of dynamics and there’s nothing like the holidays to bring out a fair share of crazy. This somewhat relatable comedy is good to put things into perspective if you’re dreading a big family gathering.

Mariah Carey’s Merriest Christmas

I mean, it’s Mariah Carey. Everyone knows she’s been a Christmas icon since about 1994. Spoiler alert! The highlight of this cinematic delight is when she’s carried on stage in Santa’s sleigh.
