We already know that Calgary’s weather is more unpredictable than Kanye West during a live show. So, how do you keep your Insta game on point if you can’t even stand outside for more than 0.3 seconds half the time? We’ve solved this problem by finding you some of Calgary’s best indoor spots for your next selfie.
Bridgette Bar
Bridgette Bar already has earned a spot on our personal lists of Calgary’s best deco, but believe it or not, the bathroom is one of the best spots for a photo op. The mid-century modern vibe is down to earth, but totally unique, and the dresser makes for a killer prop.

Second Cup in Landmark Center
This newish Second Cup on 17th ave and 4th St really took a different turn from its previous style and jumped on the modern minimalist train. The whole café is cute to look at, but the feature wall is standout. With a Calgary based mural, this is a great alternative to actually getting a real pic with the Calgary tower in the background – who can actually be bothered to suffer the cold for that?

Foreign Concept
The mural inside Foreign Concept is just the look you’re going for if you want to forget all about winter. This beautiful piece is great from afar if you want to capture the whole landscape of pretty trees, or you can get up close and personal to get a cute selfie with one of the many different birds.

Banker’s Hall
If you’re already living in full Christmas mode, then this is the background for you. Nothing screams the holidays like a multiple storey Christmas tree and 1000 of dangling lights that are in Banker’s Hall. Get in faster for this shot because it’s not available year round!
Hedkandi on 8th
On top of already being the most stylish salon we know, Hedkandi’s 8th Street location features the iconic Martinique Wallpaper by Beverly Hills. Same wallpaper that was in Blanche’s room on The Golden Girls – need we say more? This also gives you a great excuse to freshen up your do so your picture here is extra sleek.
105, 1301 8 St. SW, hedkandisalon.com
Ricardo’s Hideaway
Island vibes all the way this winter with the wallpapers gracing the insides of Ricardo’s bathrooms. The bananas make for a totally quirky and fun background for the next time you’re wanting an exciting selfie. Even better, the other bathroom has flamingos on the wall, which is equally cute and hilarious, and a huge selling feature since you can come here twice and have completely different shots — both photographic and alcoholic!
1530 5 St. SW, ricardoshideaway.ca
National on 8th
Feel like the star you really are with this light feature at National on 8th ave. The bright outline makes for a really cool close up and an even cooler silhouette-feeling shot from further back. Extra style points since your glass will have a matching star.

Plant
The flowers might not be flourishing outdoors, but thanks to Plant you can still get the perfect backdrop. Decked out with hundreds of plants, this shop is perfect for a cute, nature-y photo in the dead of winter.
1327 9 Ave. SE, plantshop.ca
Monogram Downtown
The tile wall behind Monogram’s bench is an awesome mash-up between simple and clean, yet so fun! The asymmetrical design makes it exciting, but the neutral colours will make sure that this backdrop doesn’t steal your thunder.
