Don’t Miss Any of These Outdoor Concerts This Summer in YYC

We love concerts so much we’d be willing to challenge anyone that thinks they can trump our self-proclaimed title as the Kings and Queens of Outdoor Summer Concerts in YYC. We’re just catching our breath from Sled Island, but because Calgary is such a winter city we waste no time getting on board with every outdoor concert when summer finally arrives. And no, we do not discriminate genres. Like we said, we love them all … the most.

But for those of you who are ready to challenge our relationship status with outdoor concerts, here is a list of our top picks we expect you to be at.

We’ll start with Roundup MusicFest on July 11th because, as we mentioned before, there is nothing like a group of 90’s kids throwing it back to the best time to be alive. Two days later though, you’ll find us making our thumbs raw and burned with our lighters in the air for John Fogerty and Melissa Etheridge at Oxford Stomp. Honestly, we just can’t wait to belt out every lyric to Etheridge’s I’m the Only One, even if we’re incredibly tone-deaf.

Of course, we wouldn’t miss seeing Lee Ann Womack, Rhye, Bahamas or A Tribe Called Red perform, never mind they’re all playing at the exact same festival. You’ll find us with our best folk-inspired hat and fringe accessories sitting on an old blanket, and soaking in all the talent at the Calgary Folk Music Festival July 26 – 29.

Because we take our title seriously, a few of us have been adding an extra spin class or HIIT session to our fitness regime so we never have to stop dancing at Chasing Summer. With acts likeMar+in Garrix, DJ Snake and Kaskade taking the stage, we’re confident this is one music party no one will want to miss.

By the time Country Thundergets to Calgary August 17 – 19, we will have had one month to recover from the Calgary Stampede. That means we will be 100 percent ready to give our all for the country concert festival of the year, featuring none other than Dierks Bentley, Jess Moskaluke and Eric Church, among a huge list of must-see country artists.

There are so many other festivals worth attending like Mexifest,Fiestaval, and Calgary International Blues Festival– we could go on forever. But like we said, we are kind of the kings and queens of this sort of thing. But there’s room for every king and queen so … see you there?
